Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Anne Scharp Insurance Agency collects through this website, what happens to it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.

Introduction

Anne Scharp Insurance Agency (“we,” “us,” “our”) runs this website. This policy covers this website only: the pages you are reading and the quote form on them.

It does not cover what happens when you call the office or come in, and it does not cover GEICO. GEICO runs its own website and its own quote flow under its own privacy policy. This site sends you there when you ask for a quote; see How we share information.

Information we collect

What you type into the quote form. The form asks for four things and offers a fifth:

  • your name;
  • your phone number;
  • your email address;
  • the type of coverage you picked from the list; and
  • anything you write in the optional “Anything else we should know?” box.

Along with that information, we record which button opened the form and the date and time you sent it. That is the whole of it. This website never asks for a date of birth, a driver’s license, a vehicle identification number, a Social Security number, or any card or bank details. There is no field for any of them.

What arrives on its own. Like every website, ours is reached from an IP address, and the server that answers you receives it. We do not store it. What we store instead is a one-way scrambled version of it, which cannot be turned back into the address, and only so that the same connection cannot flood the quote form; those records are deleted after two days.

Visits are also counted in aggregate; see Cookies and tracking.

How we use information

  • to prepare and discuss the quote you asked for;
  • to reply to you and follow up;
  • to keep the quote form working and free of automated abuse; and
  • to see, in aggregate, which pages and which buttons people use, so the site can be improved.

We do not run a marketing mailing list from this website and sending the quote form does not add you to one. We do not use what you send for anything unrelated to your inquiry.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your information. It reaches exactly these places:

  • The agency. Your inquiry is saved to our database and emailed to the office so that a person sees it.
  • You. We send you a confirmation email at the address you gave us.
  • The companies that run the site for us. Supabase stores the database, Resend delivers the two emails, and Vercel hosts the site and counts visits. They process this information on our behalf, in the United States.
  • If the law requires it. We may disclose information where we are required to by law, by a subpoena or court order, or by a government authority.
  • If the agency changes hands. In a merger, acquisition or transfer of the business, information may pass to whoever takes it on, still subject to this policy.

What we do not do is send your form answers to GEICO from this website. When you submit the quote form, we save and email your inquiry and then send you on to GEICO’s own quote page. Nothing you typed here travels with you. Anything you enter on GEICO’s site is collected by GEICO, under GEICO’s privacy policy, not this one.

Cookies and tracking

This website stores nothing on your device. It sets no cookies for visitors and writes nothing into your browser’s storage. The one cookie any part of this site sets is the sign-in session for the agency’s own staff area, which is never set for an ordinary visitor and is strictly necessary for staff to sign in.

We measure visits with Vercel Web Analytics, and with nothing else. It is cookieless: it identifies nobody and stores nothing on your device. It counts page views and reports them in aggregate, including which page you visited, which site referred you, your country, and the kind of device and browser you used.

On top of page views it counts four specific actions, and only these four:

  • quote_modal_opened: the quote form was opened;
  • quote_submitted: a quote request was sent successfully;
  • phone_clicked: the phone number was tapped; and
  • directions_clicked: a directions link was followed. This site has no directions link, so this one currently records nothing at all; it is listed because it exists in the measurement set, not because it is used.

Two pieces of information travel with each of those: the label of the button that was used, and the page it was on. Nothing you type is ever sent (not your name, phone number, email address, chosen coverage, or message). Visits to the staff area are excluded from the numbers entirely.

There is no advertising tracker, no social-media tracker, no session recording, no tag manager and no embedded third-party content on this site.

That is why this site has no cookie consent pop-up. Consent exists for storing things on your device, and we store nothing there, so there is nothing to ask you about and nothing for you to opt out of. If you use a tracker blocker it will stop the visit counting, and the site will work exactly the same.

Data retention

The scrambled records behind the quote form’s abuse protection are deleted automatically after two days. Quote inquiries are kept so the office can follow up and retain a record of what was requested. There is no automatic deletion schedule for them: they are kept until they are deleted. If you want yours removed, ask us and we will delete it; see Your rights and choices.

Security

This site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and browsers are instructed to refuse an unencrypted one. Inquiries are stored in a database that the public cannot read: the website may add an inquiry and cannot read any back, and reading them requires signing in to the staff area.

No method of sending information over the internet, and no way of storing it, is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us using the details below.

Children’s privacy

This website is meant for adults arranging insurance and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from a child. If you believe a child has sent us something through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

This site links to other websites, including GEICO’s. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policy before giving them personal information.

Your rights and choices

You can contact us to:

  • ask what you sent us through this website;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong; and
  • ask us to delete your inquiry.

There is no marketing list to unsubscribe from because this website does not create one. The emails you receive after sending the form are a confirmation and any replies about your inquiry. Use any of the contact details below. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law; ask us and we will help.

Changes to this policy

If we change how this website handles information, we change this page in the same breath and revise the “Last updated” date at the top of it. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
